St. Patty’s Day is just around the corner…..and I have to say….this year I’m particularly excited. Because this year is the first year in a while that we actually have fun plans! Woo hoo! You gotta love having neighbors who love to have fun.
There’s just something about a holiday where it’s totally acceptable to celebrate ALL DAY LONG. Am I right? And these Irish Mimosas are the perfect way to get the party started.
I’m always a fan of mimosas, especially when they have a fun twist. And this Irish version? Well…they’re my new favorite.
Made with just 4 simple ingredients, they take the classic mimosa recipe and give it a fun St. Patty’s Day twist. Perfect for anyone who’s ready to party!
WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN THIS RECIPE?
- Orange juice
- Grapefruit juice
- Jameson Irish Whiskey
- Champagne
- Orange wedge
HOW TO MAKE IRISH MIMOSAS:
- In a champagne flute, combine chilled orange juice, grapefruit juice, and Jameson.
- Top with champagne and garnish with an orange wedge.
- Enjoy!
CAN YOU MAKE THEM BY THE PITCHER?
Yes, it’s easy to make them by the pitcherful, and doing so is ideal for easy entertaining. The best way to do this is to combine the orange juice, grapefruit juice, and Jameson in a pitcher and refrigerate until ready to serve. Just before serving, add the chilled champagne and orange wedges.
WHAT KIND OF CHAMPAGNE DO YOU USE?
I always prefer to use a Brut champagne, which is the driest variety. I find that it’s the best way to balance out the sweetness of the juice in a mimosa. However, if you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side, you can feel free to use an extra dry or even sweet variety.
WHAT KIND OF GRAPEFRUIT JUICE DO YOU USE?
I love using Ruby Red grapefruit juice in cocktails, not only because it’s sweeter than white grapefruit juice, but because I love the gorgeous splash of color it lends to any drink. If you prefer to use white grapefruit juice or are unable to find Ruby Red, you may want to add a splash of simple syrup or use a sweeter variety of champagne in this recipe.
CAN YOU USE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF WHISKEY?
The simple answer is yes. You can feel free to use any type of whiskey you have on hand. Of course, the only way for this to truly be an “Irish Mimosa” is to use Irish whiskey. It is also important to note that Irish whiskey generally has a lighter, less sweet flavor than American whiskey.
