🍋 Ingredients
Many fruit dips are made with marshmallow fluff, and since that’s not typically an ingredient we have on hand, I wanted to make a recipe without it. I love the fact that this dip is made with ingredients that are commonly in our fridge, and that the ingredients are all simple and real.
I used a combination of cream cheese and sour cream, but you can definitely substitute plain or vanilla Greek yogurt for the sour cream if you’d like.
I also used fresh lemon juice, but bottled would work just fine.
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
📋 Instructions
The most important part of these instructions is to make sure you start with softened cream cheese. You’ll want to remove it from the refrigerator and take it out of the box 1-2 hours before you plan to use it. You can also soften it quickly by submerging the foil wrapped cream cheese in a bowl of warm water until it’s softened, typically 5-10 minutes depending on the temperature of the water.
- Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
- Use a hand mixer to blend on medium-high until smooth and creamy.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
🍊 Recipe variations
- Substitute orange or pineapple juice for the lemon juice
- Add 1/4 – 1/2 tsp. of vanilla or almond extract
- Use brown sugar in place of granulated sugar for a caramel flavor (this would be especially delicious with apples)
- For a thinner consistency, use 1 cup sour cream
- Add orange or lemon zest for extra flavor
- Substitute amaretto or your favorite liqueur for the lemon juice
🌡 Storing
Leftover dip should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. I would not recommend freezing it.
🍪 What to serve it with
In addition to fresh fruit, this could be used for dipping a variety of different foods. Here are some fun ideas:
- Nilla Wafers
- Graham crackers
- Pretzels
- Breadsticks
- Ritz crackers
- Pancakes or waffles (as a topping)
- Crepes
